Charlottesville, VA - September 5, 2024 - Field School of Charlottesville is proud to announce a transformative $1.5 million matching grant from a generous benefactor in support of the school’s new Charlottesville campus on Barracks Road. This contribution marks a significant milestone in Field School’s mission to provide a dynamic and engaging educational environment for middle school boys.
The matching grant underscores a shared commitment to promoting excellence in education and nurturing the development of well-rounded boys of character and accomplishment.
The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, offered the following comment: “We are excited to partner with the Field School on this relocation project, which we believe will provide greater access to an outstanding all-boys middle school educational experience in Charlottesville.”
Field School has long had a tradition of utilizing outdoor spaces for learning and growth. Our new 25-acre campus, complete with playing fields, hiking and biking trails, and a pond for teaching and recreation, will only enhance the boys' experience. Field School of Charlottesville’s new campus promises to be a beacon of educational excellence, featuring state-of-the-art facilities, innovative learning spaces, and scenic surroundings that inspire curiosity, exploration, and growth. With a focus on developing the whole boy through rigorous and engaging curriculum, character development initiatives, and a diverse array of extracurricular activities, Field School is poised to redefine middle school for boys.
“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting new chapter in Field School's history, and we are deeply grateful for the generosity and vision of our local benefactor," said Head of School, Bo Perriello. “The matching grant represents a significant investment in our new campus project and will support our mission of providing an unparalleled educational experience for middle school boys.”
Speaking to her son’s experience, the parent of a recent alumnus shared: “Field School has been nothing short of transformative for our son. He has thrived in their small school environment, where he is known to everyone - both staff and students. His talents are seen, praised and encouraged, while his areas for continued growth are attended to appropriately. Students are active - recess AND sports, every day, no matter the weather. The curriculum is relevant, rigorous, engaging and relatable. Field School has been the optimal environment for the growth and development of our middle school son. We only wish we could send him through high school as well!”
Added Perriello, “With the support of our community and this transformative gift, Field School is one step closer to our new campus, which will enable us to impact even more boys.”
