Fall Sports
-
The Field School Cross Country team is an incredible group of boys who love to spend time together, develop relationships, and push themselves athletically. Our group is incredibly diverse in ability level, but maintains strong values of sportsmanship and team collaboration so that we can all improve! By helping the boys perfect their running technique and building their endurance, we prepare them for our meets in the fall when the boys have an opportunity to showcase their hard work and skill.

Mountain biking has grown to become one of the staple sports at Field School. With the emphasis on fun, the mountain biking program provides an opportunity for each boy to improve his physical conditioning, as well as hone his biking skills. Time is spent both on the specific handling skills needed to safely navigate natural trails, as well as conducting daily safety checks and performing basic maintenance and repair to their bikes. Athletes work to maintain the biking trails on campus, while also working to create new jumps and drops each season that introduce new challenges which the boys enjoy during the "free ride" portion of each day. The biking program ranges from beginning riders to advanced riders, and our athletes are able to learn and grow at their own individual pace. Competition is also a component of the program with the boys choosing teams that race on campus each week. Having recently joined the Virginia Interscholastic Cycling League through NICA and VAHS, riders also have an opportunity to race for the Field School Mountain Biking team in the fall and spring against boys from schools across Virginia.

Soccer has been one of the premier sports at Field School ever since its inception. Our athletes are able to grow their knowledge and love of the sport through learning the game in a variety of ways and through intramural competition. Our FISL program allows our players to participate in mini soccer games against one another throughout the season to help build the pillars of sportsmanship and camaraderie. We also enjoy having our interscholastic season on top of our FISL program, in which we play against other local schools in the area during the fall.
Winter Sports

The basketball program at Field School creates a competitive team environment by providing the foundational skills to succeed on the court. Athletes hone these gained foundational skills in decision-based training to increase activity within practice and challenge players to incorporate their skills creatively to find success. Basketball practice at Field School is fun, fast-paced, and encouraging for both experienced and inexperienced players.

Swimming is one of the more traditional sports at Field School. With a small but mighty team, we have a history of building connections with fellow teammates and having fun practicing diverse water sports. Swimming is a great chance to workout in a different way while experiencing the fun that the water has to offer. Our team is able to practice at the Crozet ACAC down the road from Field School during the sports period and compete in meets during the season against other local schools.
Spring Sports

The Falcons Baseball team takes pride in building the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect within our athletes. We teach players the importance of fundamentals while also respecting each athlete's unique talent that they bring to the field. Through breaking down baseball into its most simplistic form, players develop a deeper understanding of the game while also growing their passion for it.
